God is Love

God's love is not based on who you are.
God's love is based on who He is.
GOD IS LOVE.

选择 (Choice)

I was watching star awards earlier on and heard this Chinese song called 选择.
This is part of the lyrics that I really liked.

我一定会爱你到地久到天长
我一定会陪你到海枯到石烂
就算回到从前这仍是我唯一决定
我选择了你, 你选择了我
这是我们的选择

I would love you to be a long time to everlasting
I will accompany you to the sea to dry rotten stone
Even back in time this is still my only decision
I chose you, you chose me
This is our choice

A beautiful love song that talks about commitment to love each other because they have made the CHOICE to do so. And I thought how true it is. True love is more than a fleeting feeling. It is about being COMMITTED TO THE CHOICE that you've made.

"True love is about commitment. It is valuing the total person, not just the part where it feels good at the moment. It is an unconditional commitment to an imperfect person. It is a decision, a judgement and a promise" -Author unknown

Welcome to the world...

"I had innocently stumbled into the real world while holding tightly to my... ideals. In response, the world laughed at my tender heart, mocked my deepest desires, and trampled on my treasured dreams."
Leslie Ludy, from her book Authentic Beauty

And that was how we entered the world.

A moment to remind you why you chose nursing...

Yesterday one of my patient was complaining of severe pain.
He couldn't sleep. He sat up, fidgety, restless, and nauseated because of the pain.
He started hitting his head because it was so painful.
I felt sorry for him and held his hand
I called the doctors hoping that they could help.
They ordered painkillers which I promptly gave.
The pain was still there.
I suggested icepack. He agreed.
I placed the ice pack on his shoulder.
I wanted to bandage the icepack so it could stay in place without me holding.
At that moment he said,
"Missy, don't go, keep me company... talk with me"
*heart melt moment*
So, I stayed. I held the icepack on his shoulder and stayed with him.
I was silent, not knowing what to say.
He seemed less fidgety.
He fell asleep after a long while.

It was,
a moment to remember.
to know that just being there brought some comfort to them,
in the midst of their pain.

It was the same feeling I felt when I was just a child, probably about 6/7 years old
I remembered there was this child, probably abt a year old or so who cried bcos of the roaring thunder
My first reaction was to hug her
And she stopped crying in my embrace
It just felt so, so, so good.

I realise there is great joy in giving, in bringing a little comfort, a little joy, a little love to someone who needed it.

It was for those moments, I chose to become a nurse. Sadly, such moments don't happen everyday, don't they?

LOVE

has a way of making the simplest of all things (like eating) refreshing...

Rested

After almost 2 weeks of draining weeks, from rushing assignment to planning dates to work to dates to meetups to gatherings...

I was feeling so tired.

I am glad still for moments in dates, special few ppl in gatherings to talk to and pkc.. Physically tired but emotionally refreshing. It always refresh me when I am able to share my life and to have another share theirs with me.

Most of all, I wanna thank God for rest.

Thank God for time today to talk to Him, to read the word and to clear my room.

Rested. (:

Today, I understood

I think talking to ppl really helped me a great deal, often in coming up with my own solutions and today, knowing myself better. it's a great to have someone just listen and acknowledge. it's a bonus to have the listener ask the right qns, respond wisely and appropriately. to have a listener is very rare, what more, the latter? I thank God.

i'm often confused (and searching)
why does my personality fluctuate so much when i'm with diff grps?
who am I really?
what did God made me to be?

today, I understood.

I saw a trend: i'm extroverted when I feel accepted. introverted when I don't feel accepted.
  • to ppl in st johns, campus crusade and adv dip, i'm a spontaneous idealist
  • to ppl at work, pkc, i'm a dreamy idealist
  • in a new environment, I tend to be a dreamy idealist until I feel accepted. then, i'll mutate into my most enjoyable role- spontaneous idealist. =))

it is no wonder I feel accepted in st johns, campus crusade and adv dip too, these groups consists of a lot of idealist too, take a look at their cause:
  • st johns- for the service of mankind
  • campus crusade- movements everywhere so that everyone know someone who truly follow Jesus
  • adv dip- gerontology (caring for the older adults)
we all want to make this world a better place.

only in these groups could I spontaneously come up with games/some fun activities/conversation topics/jokes/antics/ideas that these group of ppl will enjoy and will like.

whereas in pkc and work,
i'm surrounded by realists. they see things as it is now. not what it could be. therefore, they must have seen me as a dreamy idealist- someone who'd prefer to be alone and leave me alone and all the more I don't feel accepted and never could have mutated to my most enjoyable role.

anw, my spontaneous topics/ideas/games/jokes/antics will be very way off with these grp of ppl so I can't be very spontaneous also. they seemed rather judgemental and critical, so all the more the games planned should be carefully thought of. Though I don't fully enjoy myself with this grp of peeps but what kept me going was bcos i'm an idealist. hahaha. I see what they could become... =))

well, somehow, I appreciate independent thinkers. they got a balanced view of both worlds. =))

Jesus is definately not a Mr. Nice guy

When Jesus returned to the Temple and began teaching, the leading priests and elders came up to him. They demanded, “By what authority are you doing all these things? Who gave you the right?”

“I’ll tell you by what authority I do these things if you answer one question,” Jesus replied. “Did John’s authority to baptize come from heaven, or was it merely human?”

They talked it over among themselves. “If we say it was from heaven, he will ask us why we didn’t believe John. But if we say it was merely human, we’ll be mobbed because the people believe John was a prophet.” So they finally replied, “We don’t know.”

And Jesus responded, “Then I won’t tell you by what authority I do these things.

(Matthew 21:23-27, NLT)

LOL.

why did Jesus curse the fig tree?

it seems to be an object lesson.

"The presence of a fruitful fig tree was considered to be a symbol of blessing and prosperity for the nation of Israel. Likewise, the absence or death of a fig tree would symbolize judgment and rejection. Symbolically, the fig tree represented the spiritual deadness of Israel, who while very religious outwardly with all the sacrifices and ceremonies, were spiritually barren because of their sins. By cleansing the Temple and cursing the fig tree, causing it to whither and die, Jesus was pronouncing His coming judgment of Israel and demonstrating His power to carry it out. It also teaches the principle that religious profession and observance are not enough to guarantee salvation, unless there is the fruit of genuine salvation evidenced in the life of the person. James would later echo this truth when he wrote that “faith without works is dead” (James 2:26). The lesson of the fig tree is that we should bear spiritual fruit (Galatians 5:22-23), not just give an appearance of religiosity. God judges fruitlessness, and expects that those who have a relationship with Him will “bear much fruit” (John 15:5-8)."

Why would a loving God ask Abraham to sacrifice his son?

11/12/13

the day I experienced God again.
it was awesome!
ask me abt it!
I'll tell you! =))

of it all, one thing I am very sure,
"The LORD is close to all who call on him, yes, to all who call on him sincerely" (Ps 145:18, NLT)

it's one thing to know, and another thing to experience.
it's more awesome to experience.
CALL out to Him and experience Him for yourself! =))
